Book Your Growth ReviewThis report is updated monthly. Visibility scores reflect a weighted formula based on ranking position and keyword volume. Data collected from Google organic search results. Floodlight SEO works with one client per vertical, per market.
How to read this chart. Each bubble is a business competing for attention in this market. Bigger bubbles mean more overall search visibility. The horizontal axis shows how many keywords a business ranks for, and the vertical axis shows their average ranking position (lower numbers are better). Businesses in the upper-right are ranking for a lot of keywords in strong positions. Businesses in the lower-left are barely showing up.

Overall search visibility score for each competitor. Higher scores mean more keywords ranking in stronger positions. Updated monthly.

AI Overview citations are highly variable. A single snapshot is unreliable, which is why we report persistence across multiple monthly observations. Persistent citation indicates durable authority that correlates with strong organic search performance.
When a homeowner in the Oklahoma City metro starts researching a new build, the process starts the same way every time: a search. “Custom home builder Edmond.” “Home builder near me.” “New construction Norman.” The builder who shows up with a strong site, reviews, and answers to the buyer’s questions gets the inquiry. The builder who doesn’t show up gets nothing.
The OKC metro covers a wide geographic area, from Edmond and Deer Creek in the north through Moore, Norman, Mustang, and Yukon to the west. Each community has its own search patterns. Someone building in Nichols Hills is not searching the same way as someone in Choctaw. Builders who only target “Oklahoma City” miss the vast majority of searches happening in these sub-markets.
There’s a quirk in this market worth noting: several community names overlap with car brands. Searches for “Mustang builder” and “Yukon builder” return Ford and GMC results instead of construction companies. That means the builders who target those keywords with specific, well-optimized pages have even less competition than usual, because the search engines are confused about intent. Clarity wins.
The competitive landscape here is fragmented. The top three builders combine for about 15.5% of total visibility, and no single company holds more than 7%. Several of the top competitors rank for a lot of keywords but with average positions in the 12-14 range, meaning they appear on page two for most of their rankings. Appearing on page two is functionally the same as not appearing at all.
About 21% of the top positions in this market are still held by directory sites. Those directories rank by default because no builder has built a page targeting those specific keywords. Every one of those positions is available to the first business that creates content for it.
A builder who systematically targets the communities across this metro, from Edmond through Deer Creek, Moore, Norman, and Piedmont, with dedicated pages for each area would have a clear path to market leadership. Nobody has done it yet. Our SEO playbook for home builders walks through how to build that kind of presence step by step.
These are real competitive markets where Floodlight has a client. The big orange bubble that's clearly winning is ours. Results are typical.
